Hey, just got a new 14 week old bunny today. Have a lovely hutch, but wondering whether i should keep him outside at night. Itd bee great to have the opinion of someone who knows what theyre on about. Thank you xxxCan I keep my rabbit outdoors over the summer?
When we had a rabbit we kept him outside at all times and shoved a load of hay in in teh winter, especially at summer i think its a good idea (:Can I keep my rabbit outdoors over the summer?
i have 2 rabbits i keep outside in a hutch we built. They have alot of area to run around in and they seem to like it alot. But lately it has been 106+ degrees out here so i bring them indoors during the day and put them out when it cools down. They weren't looking to good out there in the heat. That's why i started to bring them in. They would just lay there and breathe funny. Well i hope this helps some..
Is your rabbit going to be an indoor or outdoor bunny? Either way, the most important thing is that they are not in direct sunlight as bunnies can overheat very quickly. As long as a hutch is secure and weather protected, with lots of hay your rabbit will be fine. The only thing I would be concerned about is that rabbits are sociable bunnies so ensure you spend lots of time with him and give him lots of exercise.

I've kept rabbits for over 20 years, now currently housing rescue buns and boarders to finance it, and the most important thing you can do is maintain socialising! Our rabbits know their names, are litter trained and come when called - it sounds like this bunny has found a good home though so all good : )

Yes, you can keep a bunny outside. I personally think it is better to keep them outside for a number of reasons. Firstly, it stops your bunny chewing household items such as wires and chair legs, and secondly, having a rabbit outside means that you wont have to know exactly where they are all the time. I think it's a great thing to keep them outside, as long as you tend to them daily so they don't feel unloved (they can get depression if they don't feel loved). Also, because your bunny would be outside, it gives him the chance to meet wildlife such as birds, which my bunny absolutely loves to chase, even though the birds are usually on the other side of her run. But it's still funny to watch her run after them. Oh yes, and if you are going to have your bunny outside, make sure she has an exterior run aswell. Many hutches come with a little ground bit on them where your bunny can eat grass, but you will never appreciate your bunny if you just keep him in a small confined area. Get him a big exterior run so that he can feel wild and run around whenever he wants. Plus, with this, you can go in the run whenever you want and be with him, instead of trying to catch him in his hutch to say hello. I actually have a puppy's garden cage for my rabbit, which is about 5x5 meters wide, which she absolutely loves to run around in a stretch her legs.

I hope this helps, and good luck with your new bunny :)
It is perfectly safe to keep your rabbit outside in its hutch, as long as you don't live in an area where there may be predators that can knock down the hutch. Make sure you have plenty of water available at all times. I am assuming the hutch has a covered sleeping area, so that he can go inside, out of the rain.
Ok well first of all you need to consider the temperature outside, if your bunny has been kept indorrs since he was born then you need to let him stay outside during the day and then bring him in at night untill he becomes used to the temperature, of course this depends on where u live, if it is mid summer and warm where you live and the night time temperature doesn't drop too much he shoudl be fine. His coat will adapt to the weather but obviously this takes time.

Make sure your pet has plenty of bedding available to use should he get cold and plenty of fresh water. Also try to ensure that your pets hutch isnt in direct sunlight as it can overheat.
It'll be fine to keep your rabbit out in the summer! I have 2 young rabbits who are living in a hutch in the back garden at the moment and they are perfectly happy, but it might be best to put your rabbit inside in the winter. Your rabbits should be safe at night as long as the hutch is strong and won't be let any predators in easily. Hope this helps : )
