Would a girl golden retriever puppy get along with a male rabbit?

i want a golden retriever puppy but i need to know if they will get alongWould a girl golden retriever puppy get along with a male rabbit?
Depends on the dog. One of my goldens wouldn't bother it at all. The other golden has killed possums, gophers and rodents that have come into her dog run and I would not trust her for an instant with a rabbit.

In general, dogs are predators and rabbits are prey. The rabbit may be very frightened even if the dog does not show strong prey drive. And the rabbit will always be on the losing end and it could happen in an instant.Would a girl golden retriever puppy get along with a male rabbit?
Think carefully about the history of dogs and rabbits. Who generally wins those fights? (hint : not the rabbit) Don't expect a dog to ';just know'; the rules of your home - especially if those rules include, ';Don't chase and kill small furry animals that run away from you, even if that activity has been bred in to your genes for the last hundred million years!';
Most goldens I know get excited about prey animals of any sort ... birds, squirrels, etc. (Tennis balls aren't prey animals, but they get pretty excited about those, too.)

The way a rabbit (prey animal) moves is likely to attract the attention of the golden. Even if they are gentle and know ';off'; or ';leave it'; to a spectacular degree, it's highly likely that dog will hurt rabbit. It's just the nature of the game.
Maybe. Depends what you mean by 'get along'. If the puppy is very young, it may not realize yet that rabbits are prey and would accept one as part of the household. I wouldn't want to promise that the dog wouldn't decide the rabbit is prey as it gets older. Goldens generally don't have a high prey drive, but some do. But, if the puppy tries to play with the rabbit as it would with another puppy, the puppy could easily kill the rabbit by mistake. Rabbits don't have much defense against dogs(in the wild they must rely on speed, agility, and burrows to escape predators) unlike cats who are the same size as a rabbit but have sharp claws on the front. I wouldn't leave a dog of any age unattended with a rabbit, and by that I mean I wouldn't take my eyes off the two of them for 5 seconds. I have had dogs and a rabbit together in the house with the rabbit loose and there was no problem but I watched them, and the dogs knew what ';leave it'; meant so I could head them off I thought they were getting too pushy around the rabbit.
definatly dont let the dog and rabbit go in the same room!!! probably wont get along!
