What happens to film noir conventions when they are parodied in Who Framed Roger Rabbit?

The one that leaps to my mind is when the camera pans around Eddie Valiant's office, especially the desk. You notice a lot of things that you would normally see on a detectives desk, but if I recall correctly there are more than a few items that show him alongside toons. I loved the fact that the human component was taken so seriously in this film and not played strictly for laughs.





I can't imagine anyone besides Bob Hoskins playing Eddie Valiant.What happens to film noir conventions when they are parodied in Who Framed Roger Rabbit?
