My dog brought a baby rabbit in the house, can't find the nest, its 9pm, what can I do until morning?

The baby rabbit still has its eyes closed and ears back, so its very young. I know the best thing for it is to put it back in the nest, but I cannot find the nest. I wrapped it in a t-shirt and put it in a box with a bottle filled with hot water (to help keep it warm). I have called 3 wildlife centers, all of which cannot help me until morning. Not sure what else, if anything, to do for this rabbit until morning. Any suggestions??My dog brought a baby rabbit in the house, can't find the nest, its 9pm, what can I do until morning?
You've got the right idea, so far. Keep the bunny warm over night. Put the box somewhere safe, away from the dog and drafts. DO NOT feed it! It won't starve without food for one night and feeding it the wrong food could kill it. (cows milk is the wrong food!) You can also drown baby bunnies if you try to force liquids into them. Check around tomorrow morning for the nest. One person had a good idea, take your dog out (maybe on leash) and see if he will take you to the nest. If you find the nest, put the baby back. It's COMPLETELY not true that the mother would reject it. If you can't find the nest, get the baby to a rescue as soon as possible. Even though mother rabbits only feed their young 2-3 times daily, we can NOT supply the same amount of nutrition in such small doses. Baby bunnies have to be fed every hour or two when they are hand raised. Not an easy task. Many die just from the stress of being handled. Please, don't keep the baby. It's not what's best for the bunny. My dog brought a baby rabbit in the house, can't find the nest, its 9pm, what can I do until morning?
Wait until morning. Do not feed the animal, do not provide water. The rabbit is probably in shock, and doing so will cause more harm than good. And please do not keep it as a 'pet'. Wild rabbits are completely unsuitable for pets. They stress very easily, and when caged, can stress themselves to death. First thing in the morning, bring the animal to a wildlife center.

And DO NOT give the rabbit MILK as suggested! A baby rabbit is NOT a cow! You need to get the rabbit to a licensed wildlife rehabilitator.
the baby needs to be kept warm.. around 85 degrees. If it has hair but its eyes are still closed its under 10 days old.

Lucky baby rabbits only get fed 1-2 times a day by their moms.. makes life easier for you. as long as the bun is warm you can feed it a bit of cows milk. though puppy formula with a bit of cream in it is better. 1/2 to 2 cc' should do the trick. His tum should be rounded but Not tight or Hard. a eye droper or syringe will work fine for it.
rabbit babies only feed at night so you might want to run to the store and get a baby animal bottle and some kitten supplement milk. I know walmart carries this stuff... it just happened to me too! In the morning maybe you could find the nest. You can return it. I touch my bunny all the time and the mom doesn't reject it. It's a myth.
Did you try letting your dog out and following him. He might lead you to the nest.

Keeping the baby bunny warm is a good idea. You should make sure that he doesn't dehydrate and die. Use a dropper to put some luke warm water in it's mouth until you can find it's nest.
you put it in the bathroom with food and water and close the door with the lite on. i erge you not to keep it as a pet. it can be highly dangerous. i would be carefull and make sure u dont handle it mouch at all.
I don't think the mother would want it now. I urge you not to take it back to the nest. Wait until morning, make sure the rabbit is comfortable, and take it to the wildlife center as soon as you can.
Get a box and put cloth in it such as towels and provide food and some water. Wait till morning and search for the nest. If not found take it to a vet and ask what to do. :)
Put him in a card board box with balnkets and t-shirts better yet straw or hay if you have any and feed him warm milk heated on the stove (microwaves destroy the nutrients) through an eye dropper.

Hope this helps!
I would just wait till morning.

If you put it outside now a fox or a raccoon might eat it.

You might have yourself a new pet!

Good Luck.
put it in a box in the house and if you cant find the nest take care of him till hes older and let him go
DO NOT TAKE IT BACK TO IT'S NEST. it's mother wont take it - it smells like a human now. if you do return it to it's nest, then the mother will kill it. so don't do that. if you have, like an empty aquarium tank, that would work. or a dog kennel. just keep it safe and unable to run around your house for the night and call in the morning. there's nothing you really can do.

my neighbor's kids got a hold of some bunnies while their mother was away. when they put them back the next day they were all dead. the same thing happened when i took in a chipmunk and let it go.
