also ,are rabbits usually mroe gentle than cats? i mean cats are often scratchers and biters(not all but a lot), and u cannot leave them alone for very logn tiem periods, so is a rabbit a more friendly, gentler choice? can they also be friendly to humasn also? also, is it better to get it as a bunny? and how will i knwo if the rabbit is right for me?Is a rabbit a good and feasible alternative as a pet, as i dont have time for a dog, and have cat allergies?
Rabbits are about as much work - probably more - than a dog. The cage needs to be spot-cleaned at least 2x a week, then thoroughly sanitized 1x per week. They DO chew on EVERYTHING and need lots of love and attention. While short hairs are easy to care for, long hairs need constant grooming.
If you are wondering if a rabbit would make a good pet for you, go to the library and see if they have any rabbit ownership books and read up on them.Is a rabbit a good and feasible alternative as a pet, as i dont have time for a dog, and have cat allergies?
Some rabbits actually CAN bite if you don't tame them. My friend has a rabbit who bites her sometimes. It just depends on how you treat them. (Pet them or feed them food from your hand to tame them)
Just hang out with the rabbit and get to know it. If you don't like the rabbit's personality, just send it back to wherever you got it from.
If you have cat allergies, you might be allergic to rabbits.
Rabbits are not unfriendly at all, but keep in mind they are not a ';cuddly'; pet. They do not like being held and are very independent. They can bite and often do scratch.
While they are not as demanding as a dog, they do require more care and attention than a rat or hamster. If you have allergies and not much time, I would not recommend a rabbit. Instead you might consider a hamster or even a rat. Rats are highly intelligent and very friendly.
or mice or ferrets!
Sure, rabbits are cuddly, can be crated for long periods, and don't usually bite or scratch.
You can also be allergic to a rabbit. Not just cats. It's the dander in the fur that causes the allergic reaction and cat fur and rabbit fur are very similar. Try being around a few rabbits first. Try it out.
rabbits actualy take a lot of care needed, as others have said. and you may be allergic to them because of the dander. have you though about a rat? if you want easy, cuddly animals rats can be it. you can leave them alone is a decent sized cage for long periods of time, and so long as they like humans they are Extrteamly friendly. i have had a lot of rats and all have been great pets. all i had to really do is spend even just a few minuets with them each day and there happy. and smart to. i have one rat that knows her name, and some tricks. if you want to know more you can email me at kitdragon2000@yahoo.com im willing to talk about them :)
Rabbits are great pets, but require the same amount of attention you would give a cat., And rabbits shed, so they can cause allergies. Rabbits can be litter box trained, so you would need to be have enough time to Clean the litter box. They also can roam around, if they are supervised- they don't have to be caged constantly. But they love to chew so you have to cover all of your electrical wires. And yes, rabbits are very friendly. If you only have minimal time to devote to a pet, I would suggest a Guinea Pig. They are friendly and adorable.
